How to remove and replace the draft inducer on my furnace?
I have an older furnace which the bearing is wearing out in the the draft inducer. They want to charge me a large amount for the part and half again for the labor. The furnace is 22 years old.
Simple.
Remove the furnace panel
Make sure the power is off.
Unplugged or disconnect the TWO wires going to the inducer motor
Remove the bolts that go around the inducer motor
Pull inducer straight out. There maybe a gasket in there so be careful when you remove it as to not damage the gasket in no new gasket is provided with new inducer motor. .
Reverse install turn the power back on and your all done.
You can source the part online from a hvac website. You need to know the Make of your Furnace and the MN# . You will be able to get the part for FAR cheaper online. They are not that hard to change you will need a 5/16 or 1/4" nut driver to remove the screws holding the inducer motor.
