still having efficiency furnace problems?
okay...heres what its doin now.........exhaust fan runs.....then i hear a click from the gas deal......my igniter fails to light.....gas clicks back off......my flue is clear....my drain from below the inducer is clear........i blew and drew on the hoses to the silver switch thing(it looks like a egr valve).....i unplugged the wires from this valve and held them together while the fan was running...igniter still does nothing......my hvac guy says it may be the board......any suggestions?...also...whats a board gonna run me...its a carrier

Is it a hot surface igniter, or a "spark" Hot surface igniter's will fail at any time, and you need to call your gas company to get it replaced. Don't mess with it too much, as you can cause more damage to the unit. I have an Goodman gas furnace that I replaced with a Bryant plus 90. If you live near Ct. your welcome to the goodman furnace, Free. Has a new ignighter and new board. Thats why I replaced it. Cheaper to get someone who knows the system than to try to fix it yourself.
