How hard for a begginer to make a twin size blocks quilt?
How hard would it be for a beginner to make a twin size quilt out of big blocks like the ones on this site?

I love this quilt but for 160 plus 32 for the sham it seems a lot and I'm wondering if I can make something similar for less (like under 100).
I have a sewing machine, I'm a beginner but I do have help from my mom which knows more about sewing machines but nothing about quilting. I'm also usually good at any crafts.
This would be a very easy quilt to make and if you and your Mom work together on this it should cost about $100, or less depending on the cost of the materials used.
The top will take about 7 yards @ 45" wide.
At quilt shop prices that should run $42 - $56 depending on the price per yard. Check for sales and specials.
Batting is around $8.00 and the cost for backing would be determined by what you want to use....approx 6 yards @ 45" wide. Less yardage if the fabric is wider.
Use the chart and calculator (link below) for quilt sizes and to determine how much fabric you will need.
Add .5 to the finished size block you want. This will be for the 1/4" seams used in quilting. Example: for a finished 8 " square block the cut size would be 8.5" x 8.5".
Use 43" as the fabric width when calculating yardage as selvages (along both long sides of fabric) are removed and not used, so this reduces the normal width of 45" to about 43".
Selvages are there for the manufacturing process, but will cause puckering when sewn if they are not removed....do this for any sewing project.
